It all started with Trullo Pistone… childhood memories with grandparents, eagerly awaited Sundays spent having lunch with the family, the simple life that is now repeated in certain gestures: picking figs, almonds and tomatoes and sharing them with guests while recounting anecdotes related to them… Anna is the fourth generation and is extremely proud of it.
‘I am delighted that, after a careful restyling together with my friend Susanne Mahler, I can present the two units, 50 metres apart, which can be booked together to spend wonderful moments with friends and family!’ – Anna
A century-old trullo in an oasis of peace and serenity in the heart of the Itria Valley
In front of the trullo is a large square with a centuries-old olive tree and a small square shaded by pine trees, offering a delightful spot to relax and enjoy the breathtaking view of the valley!
Wild caper plants, lemongrass, lavender, wisteria, lemons and daisies add colour to the different seasons from January to December.
Beyond the fenced area, olive, fig, walnut, pomegranate and almond trees grow on the terraces. Here too, you can choose your favourite spot to place a sun lounger or chair under a tree and read to the sound of cicadas… Or doze off blissfully and switch off!
The Pistone trullo is where Anna spent several summers during her early childhood… she knows every corner of the terraces and it is while walking there that she relives moments with her grandfather who ploughed the land (the current bedroom was the horse’s room), planted vegetables, picked figs that were then cured, dried in the sun, filled with almonds, baked in the oven, and packaged to be distributed to the family… to have a sweet treat at home in winter to offer or give as a gift… and to feed the family with the fruits of the earth. Every year, with the help of her mother and farmer Leonardo, Anna also plants tomatoes, peppers and barattieri to share with guests of all ages.
Leaving a place full of memories and energy abandoned to itself was inconceivable for Anna, which is why, together with her husband, she decided to make it a place open to everyone.
If you want to spend a holiday at Trullo Pistone, be sure to talk to Anna for the best information for your stay. You won’t regret it!
Walks in the hills, excursions to the sea but also to the ravines a few kilometres away, wine and oil tastings and orecchiette courses, impromptu evenings of authentic conviviality, with groups or on your own.
Anna is always ready to answer your questions and try to fulfil your every desire, following the motto:
Ask-anna: anna knows best
Peace in the valley
Trullo Pistone holds a century of love, handed down through four generations, never completely abandoned and then taken up again, never sold out of love for the land, tradition, and the awareness of owning and caring for a place that recharges the energy of those who live there and visit it. This is why Anna decided to share it by turning it into a holiday home.
A place that, in its simplicity and naturalness, offers peace, tranquillity and serenity to those who want to escape the crowds, to those who want to slow down, with the necessary comfort, without ostentation. The ideal place for those who, when they get up in the morning, want to go outside with a cup of coffee or tea and sit on the terrace to gaze at the infinite, or for those who, in winter, love to curl up in an armchair in front of the fireplace, contemplating the fire and its crackling and the popping of the burning branches or logs… and indulge in a good book. Or for those who want to slow down, make important decisions and understand that life is a breath, that we are passing through and we must live the moment to the full… without obligations, without commitments, accompanied by the rustling of needles, the creaking of branches and the popping of pine cones. The wind is the main factor that makes the pines “talk”, causing the needle-like leaves to move and rub against each other.
A few kilometres away, you can buy fresh bread from Giusy, drink a cappuccino at Valentina’s and immerse yourself in the conversations and discussions of local workers who relax after a day’s work in the fields, chatting and exchanging opinions. Peppino’s small square has the best pizza in the area, and for a change, you can also enjoy good meat at Antonio and Vito’s grill.
All in a slow and authentic setting, where you will be welcomed and treated like friends by the locals, with pats on the back and heart-warming smiles.
